Tribe Kids Connect - What do we do when stuff goes wrong?

Acts 16:16-36 Watch the videos above that tell the story.

After being severely beaten, Paul and Silas were thrown into jail. The jailer was ordered to guard them carefully. 24 When he heard this order, he put them far inside the jail. He pinned down their feet between large blocks of wood.

25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing songs to God. The other prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly, there was a big earthquake. It was so strong that it shook the foundation of the jail. Then all the doors of the jail broke open. All the prisoners were freed from their chains. 27 The jailer woke up and saw that the jail doors were open. He thought that the prisoners had already escaped. So he got his sword and was about to kill himself.[b28 But Paul shouted, “Don’t hurt yourself! We are all here!”

29 The jailer told someone to bring a light. Then he ran inside. Shaking with fear, he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 Then he brought them outside and said, “Men, what must I do to be saved?”

What must we do to be saved?

Know that Jesus loves us so much he gave his life for us so we can live in love forever, starting right now.

What do we do when things don’t feel very lovely?

Jesus tells us in Matthew 24:12-13 There will be more and more evil in the world. So most people will stop showing their love for each other.13 But the person who continues to be strong until the end will be saved.

Can you think up ways that will help you stay strong?

Let’s pray that we will always encourage each other because of Jesus love for us, in the worst of times and the best of times.

The holy spirit helps us grow and be like Jesus, full of love for the world and the people in it.

MAKE // Words into Art
Have you seen the scripture calligraphy of artist Tim Botts? Maybe you could have a go at creating some scripture art using Matthew 24:13, or Revelation 11:15? There are lot’s of fun videos on YouTube to help you get started with scripture art if you’ve never done it before. I enjoy drawing and creating in the margins of my bible, as part of my devotional reading and study, but you might like to create something to put around your home, or gift to a friend

Hey Kids

Try this experiment. It looks so cool!

TREEHOUSE KIDS Have you ever opened a packet of modelling clay and found it easy to use? I haven’t!

It is always so hard. You have to constantly use your hands to hold and press into the clay to get it to move the way it is designed to. Once that is done, you can make that modelling clay into pretty much anything. Until then you have to constantly keep the clay warm and press into it over and over again. This takes patience and persistence.

This is what Kindness and Goodness does. Kindness warms up and goodness presses into our heart.

While you’re creating something amazing with your modelling clay, know that Jesus sees something amazing in you. Let Kindness and goodness press into your heart and know that you are loved. Create something amazing in your heart and with your hands and share it with your family and friends. If this is hard to do, don’t give up. Keep squishing the clay and it will get easier to use. Combine Kindness, goodness and patience and see what you can come up with.
