Tribe Kids Connect - What does the bible tell us about faithfulness?

Hebrews 11:1-6

Faith means being sure of the things we hope for. And faith means knowing that something is real even if we do not see it. People who lived in the past became famous because of faith. It is by faith we understand that the whole world was made by God’s command. This means that what we see was made by something that cannot be seen.

What do you hope for?

Here are some stories about faith.

Moses and the Israelites. Exodus 14:10-14,31

10 The Israelites saw the king and his army coming after them. They were very frightened and cried to the Lord for help. 11 They said to Moses, “What have you done to us? Why did you bring us out of Egypt to die in the desert? There were plenty of graves for us in Egypt. 12 We told you in Egypt, ‘Let us alone! Let us stay and serve the Egyptians.’ Now we will die in the desert.”13 But Moses answered, “Don’t be afraid! Stand still and see the Lord save you today. You will never see these Egyptians again after today. 14 You will only need to remain calm. The Lord will fight for you.”

Can you finish this story. If you want to find out what happens next keep reading Exodus 14.

Joshua and the Israelites Joshua 3:14-17

14 So the priests carried the Ark of the Covenant. And the people left the place where they had camped. Then they started across the Jordan River. 15 During harvest the Jordan is flooded. So the river was at its fullest. The priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant came to the edge of the river. And they stepped into the water. 16 Just at that moment, the water stopped flowing. It stood up in a heap a great distance away at Adam. This is a town near Zarethan. The water flowing down to the Sea of Arabah (the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed the river near Jericho. 17 The ground there became dry. The priests carried the Ark of the Covenant with the Lord to the middle of the river and stopped. They waited there while all the people of Israel walked across. They crossed the Jordan River on dry land.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. Daniel 3:17-18

Daniel 3:17-18 17 You can throw us into the blazing furnace. The God we serve is able to save us from the furnace and your power. If he does this, it is good. 18 But even if God does not save us, we want you, our king, to know this: We will not serve your gods. We will not worship the gold statue you have set up.”

Do you know what happens next? Keep reading Daniel 3 to find out.

Read Proverbs 3:3 together. “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Make a necklace of faithfulness with your family. With each bead that is strung you can talk about a time that God has been faithful to your family. To make your necklace you could use macaroni, beads or cut up paper straws into small pieces and string onto ribbon, thread, shoelaces - whatever you have at home! MAKE // Continuous Weave Macrame
The fruit of the spirit describes the character of God. These nine virtues weave together in our heart and in our actions  to make lovely people, lovely families and lovely communities.

Have a try at this activity and imagine how love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control weave together like the wool does. You have to choose to take hold of the wool and begin to weave. Just like we take hold of Jesus' hand and let his love weave into our everyday. Make something beautiful.
